
Raphael Tay was admitted as an advocate and solicitor to the High Court in Malaya in 1986, a Registered Trade Mark Agent since 1998 and a Notary Public since 2007. His areas of practice are notably in Mergers and Acquisitions, Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law. He has been the Chairman of the Moot Committee of LAWASIA since 2008, the Chairman of the inaugural International Malaysia Law Conference 2012, the Chairman for the Publications Committee which publishes Praxis, a Malaysian Bar Publication and a member of the Disciplinary Board.
He is an adjunct lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok and a member of Taylor’s Law School Legal Profession Advisory Panel. His current areas of interest are in ASEAN, regional trade initiatives and innovation in the law and its impact on the legal landscape. He is on the curatorial team for The College of Law Australia to develop the LLM Applied Law Program that focus on ASEAN Cross Border Commercial Practice. Raphael is a corporate partner in Chooi & Company.
